Cars that Drive Themselves
Wouldn’t it be nice if cars could drive themselves. I was just thinking of the very cool things that might be possible if this became mainstream. For one thing, cars could go a lot faster, and travel closer together. Traffic problems could be much better if not over all together.
Also, regional air travel could become obsolete. If I could travel at an average speed of 100MPH between Boston and New York City, I could be there in just over 2 hours. That beats the train and the plane and takes me directly to my destination.
Also, consider that one would be able to do things while the car takes care of the driving. You could read, or watch television, or talk on the phone (safely), or better yet… sleep. Cars could contain a mini-living room, complete with sleeper-sofa. That means, I could go to bed in Boston, and wake up Chicago the next morning. Why fly?
Of course, we’ve got to work on that automatic refueling snag, or create cars that get extremely good gas mileage.
