Met the Press

Today, I met Tim Russert, moderator of Meet the Press. This is a Sunday morning talk show that I catch every week. It is, far and away, the best show of this sort, largely because of the tough questions (and follow-up questions) posed by Mr. Russert. Watching it means you’re current for the week on what is going on in politics.
I was able to attend a signing for his book, ‘Big Russ & Me’ per the suggestion of my uncle Hank. Tim recounted some of the stories from the book and hit on the theme, which is the importance his father, “the real Tim Russert” played in his upbringing and success. He then answered some questions.
I’ll try to write a review once I’ve looked at the book.
It’s the number one book on Amazon.

Don’t I look starstruck and giddy?

No more starstruck and giddy than I am or would have been if I had been there! Glad you made it and I look forward to talking about the experience and thoughts and feelings brought up in the book! I am so excited as Uncle Hank is now part of a blog!!!

I promise to read it by father’s day so we can have a good discussion. Maybe we’ll even see a review up here.

One of my favorite moments during this event was when a man, just two seats from me, when called to ask a question, went on a Tim taking too much time with Colin Powell. Tim calmly said “You’re entitled to your own opinion, but not your own facts. Here is what happened.” A burst of applause ensued after Tim’s explanation.

“Facts are stubborn things; and whatever may be our wishes, our inclination, or the dictates of our passions, they cannot alter the state of facts and evidence”
