Swift Boats, Guard Records, Yawn

Can we please talk about something that has happened since I was born? Is anyone else getting sick and tired of talking about ancient history? 60 minutes has just aired a story about how Bush was somehow wink-wink-nudge-nudged into the Texas Air National Guard 35 years ago. Who cares already? First of all, there is no proof except the word of those who have a political agenda (much like the swift boat story of a few weeks ago) or hearsay from those that are just plain dead. Second, if someone did pull some strings so that Bush could serve his country here instead of in the jungle, does it really have a bearing on the issues of the day? I move that we stop talking about Vietnam altogether in this campaign and focus on our very real present-day problems. Can I get an Amen?
A comment might wake me up.

Wealthy kids were the beneficiaries of favors that aided in avoiding travel to Vietnam? Seems like that’s old news to me. I second that we should be done with this Vietnam rehash, too bad Kerry had to build his whole campaign around his four months in that war (”reporting for duty…”)rather than actually putting forth a coherent opinion on the war we’re in or speaking about his record over 20 years in the senate….this is his election to lose and it looks like he may just do it.

AMEN!!!
I too am tired of the dribble. There should be a law against the crap that the media spews during “cam pain” season. When are we going to hear and see information about the real issues affecting everyday tax paying citizens. Maybe we should start electing our media too, or would that just be another circus?
