Finding Things del.icio.us Style

One of the great things about del.icio.us is the places it helps you stumble upon. Not only is it a great place to store your own links, but you can see the community that is linking the same things that you are. Then you start stumbling upon interesting places on the internet. For example, I’ve been really interested in the whole longtail phenomenon. So when I linked an interesting article on it, I took a look at who else had linked it and came across an interesting blog at gapingvoid.com. Now this blog entry does not mention the word longtail but it relates in that it discusses the economics of supply and demand. It’s related, but very tangent to the whole longtail concept and was found based on common interest and not some coded computer hyperlink.

So the observation I am making is that the internet is being linked together not just by the traditional hyperlink… but links that living, breathing, thinking people make between disparate pieces of information.

UPDATE: If you feel confused, don’t worry. Here is another description of the del.icio.us phenomenon
